Here's a great little technique for those who make travelogue style slide shows from there holiday or vacation photo's. If you want to move the show from one location to another then this animation technique might be very handy.

Gavin, you have a wonderful knack for making anything seem completely simple, leaving a person with the thought, "Why didn't I, for goodness' sake, think of this one myself?" Well done!

One question: you pointed out the central squares on the red line as being what needs to be lined up with the exact spot where the line should begin. For whatever reason, I can't figure out why the line doesn't expand in both directions instead of only downward and in one direction. Obviously, I'm missing something basic. Can you fill in the blank spot for me?

Barbara, it's a very good question. Why doesn't the line grow equally from the centre?

Think about the beginning and ending positions of a layer. A layer will always change size from the beginning motion view to the ending motion view. By moving the line over the start point and shrinking it to 0%, one end of the line is already in the ending position. So only the other end of the line seems to change size to reach the ending point.

It's not an accurate science. If you look closely you may see the start point move a bit, but the eye naturally follows the object that moves most (the plane).

The reason I suggested moving the centre points to the start position is because layesr zoom in or out on those centre points.

Thanks, I did google maps. Hard part is that I'm so picky. I wanted something that would show the east coast of the US, plus the island of Aruba, clear enough to show the flight path.
