Frostpunk 2 is a city-building and survival video game launched on September 20, 2024. It allows players to upgrade overpopulated, polluted, and starved cities.
Unlike the previous game, this time, Frostpunk 2 allows players to not only build individual buildings. It will also enable players to make districts, each with their own particular functioning.
“Housing” in Frostpunk 2 is a district building that functions as a shelter where people can rest at night.

Frostpunk 2 consists of 5 main districts, namely, Housing, Food, Extraction, Industrial, and Logistics.
You can extend each district by unlocking additional functions in Idea Tree (which provides players with more solutions and ideas for any problem or issue). Further, players have to build other buildings inside the district to enhance more functions.
How To Build A Housing District
As you can already tell from the word “housing” itself, Frostpunk 2’s housing building is among the most important buildings improvised to provide shelter to a large number of citizens.
For the Frostpunk 2 housing district, you first need to unlock the Idea tree by placing the Research Institute (one of the first buildings made available to you in advance) in Chapter 1.
After you unlock Idea Tree, all you need to do is get the solution to problems and act according to it as guided. Your next goal is to make sure that there is enough shelter.
Provide Enough Shelter To Citizens
To provide more residences, the player must expand the housing district.
Players can expand the housing district by building additional houses (while building them, make sure to place them in the blue highlighted zone, as the red highlighted zone may be hazardous).
The shelter can help provide shelter to a larger workforce. A larger workforce will make it easier for players to run the city.
Also, make sure to place housing buildings around other housing districts or food districts, as this has extra advantages. You can get an extra +20 heat. (Heat will allow your city to function smoothly.)
Another additional tip for building houses is to build them near places where the wind is exposed. A place exposed to wind will provide more shelter(+10), which will cost you about -20 heat.
Additionally, housing districts need to be heated. Ensure that your housing district is always heated so that people don’t die of freezing.
Build the houses near other residences. You can use housing research technology; it may help you heat the houses.
