Bird photos and stuff

Postby nannybear » Thu May 29, 2008 12:16 pm

Hello,

Just posting a couple of my photoshare links to what I have been up to and why I haven't been around as much as usual. First is the pics that I took of the birds, squirrel and Donna's two "boys".

http://photoshare.shaw.ca/messages/view ... page/1/15/

These others are of the posters I have been doing and some "cow" shots on the way home from Sidney, BC.

The lil guy in middle photo, every time I would get ready to shoot he would make like he was coughing up a hairball! Had to stand there for 5 minutes......

cheers Jan

Great photos. Unfortunately when i see a good bird shot, as soon as i go to press the button they fly off. It's a constant source of amusement for my wife everytime this happens.

I've got to ask though....what breed were the dogs because i don't think i've ever seen one before.

Jan, those are some very friendly birds! I was really partial to your squirrels, though. Lots of people think of them as pests, and they can certainly be annoying at times, but they're so cute and funny.

So, when you're all done wandering around capturing animal souls in your camera, will you build a show with them?

I did do a show quite some time ago for her called the Birds of Yellowpoint. We had done some video as well. The pics are even better this time. Thanks for peeking, hugs Jan

Great photos Jan. I need to send you some shots I got last year on my deck, to see
if you know what kind of bird it is.
Thanks for sharing.

Jan

Was that a pine siskin in your hand? You have got my interest because I love birds, and wildlife. I go birding with friends every year to Point Pelee National Park ...we get over 60 species of warblers in May. I tried taking photos and even videos, but its very hard, almost impossible unless you have the right (and expensive) equipment.

I am envious of where you live and all the stuff that would be right out your backdoor. Keep posting those pics!!

Note to Kay: If you turn yourself into a tree, the birds don't recognize you as anything other than a tree. I don't mean that you should adorn yourself in leafy branches; what I mean is that, if you can manage to stand or sit without moving a muscle, the birds will all but land on your nose. They are fully capable of doing other, far messier things too, so beware!

I did this a couple years ago, setting myself up with a tripod smack dab in front of our feeder, and I got closeups that astounded me. I also had a chipmunk try climbing my leg, which broke the entire mood and scared both me and the little rascal.

Hunny - please send the pics I wold love to try to identify them for you

Kay - yes that was a pine siskin. There are tons of them on the deck, flitting and flying at each other. We actually got the spotted towhee this morning. I will post later. If anyone had told us we would be birders 10 years ago we would have chuckled. Ahhhh age and what is does for you!

Barbara - the image of you and the chipmunk had me ROTFLMAO....

Cheers all Jan

Ditto on the "roaring with laughter" over a chipmunk trying to crawl up your leg Barb.
