Hello,

I am a new user of PSP and have just joined this forum. I've been lurking (i guess that what it's called), and am very thankful for the information, advice and spirit provided by this group.

I was at the seminar in Newark last week, and there was a technique shown in a demo show (02_Producer_Keyframing_Effects). It was in the adjustment affects, change opacity over time section. I am very interested in learning how that effect is done.

It used a 9-segment element (a mask, maybe) that looks like a tic-tac-toe pattern. The images were from a wedding. A profile image of the bride slides in from right to left, this image takes up most of the screen, starts with her outside the mask, and then under it. Then the individual segments have different pictures come in and out of view, followed by another full frame type image.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, to understand how to do this, or something like it?

Thank you,

Larry C.

Welcome to the Forum Larry!! Yes it is called lurking... Did they give you a disk of tutorials or anything. I haven't been fortunate enough to be close to a seminar yet so not sure how they operate. Jennifer ( VidQueen) has actually presented for Photodex so if anyone would know how to do this it would be her. She has an amazing new template collection on her site right now so check it out. Not sure if her page is up and running yet but should be soon. She is just switching hosts right now......anyway cheers Jan

Hi Jan,
I am not how to access Jennifer's site. Is the link www.choicebackgrounds.com? I get some sort of error message when I try that link.

They gave a tutorial of disks, and a workbook at the seminar. I'm making my way through them now.

One thing I don't know how to do is to create the mask in a photo editor (i have corel paint shop pro, but don't really know how to use it).

The demo show at the seminar, is also on the photodex website http://www.photodex.com/products/producer/demos.html

It is in the Feature Focus | Adjustment Affects show. It's the second or third example in that show.

Regards,

That is the right link but she has just switched hosts and perhaps is not up and running yet.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 so I can't tell you how to do that but check out the above. I always save in a png format, so not sure what the gif would be like.

Cheers Jan

ps: are you in Arabia????

Larry,
Welcome to the forum. I think Jennifer (Vidqueen) is still trying to find a new SP that offers her the bandwidth that she needs. Apparently that was a problem with her old provider. Bummer.

Jerry,
Thanks for following up. It's maybe a coincidence, but the presenter of advanced topics at the seminar was named Jennifer. I'm not sure if it's the same person.

Larry

For an easy (if there is such a thing) entry into masks have a look through the tutorials from Rick in the PSP Tutorial section of this forum. He has 6 tutorials taking it in stages. From these you will find that any photo editor capable of having transparancy (that is most) will do masks.

Hey, nearly forgot, welcome to the forum.

Brian
