Avoid login to my account when viewing my shared show

Postby lca » Sun Feb 04, 2007 8:42 am

I have finally uploaded my first show to Photodex sharing. So far so good.
I have learned how to do that by reading the thread about the subject from december 2006.

But everytime I click my link to the show I have to login to my account. And that was not the idea as I want my familly and other to take a look at my show. :?

What can I do to correct this?

Kind regards,
Lena

You didn't manage to check the privacy box did you ? (I seem to remember
seeing it when I uploaded a show). The Photodex manual mentions
under "uploading options" Privacy - makes your show visible only to you.

My best guess since I have not managed to do that .... yet

No, that is not it.
I can invite to the show and it runs without login.

So if you post/send someone else the link, they
can click on it and watch without a problem, but if
you click on the same link it expects you to login ?

Or, do you have to login if you go to your sharing
page ? That would make sense since it probably knows
from a cookie it is you and you need to login to make
any changes.

If you post a link and everybody EXCEPT you can
click on that link and view the show, I don't have
any idea. What is your show sharing account name
and I'll see if it lets me watch it (or post the link).

When you log in at the Photodex web site check the box to "Automatically Log Me In". You should then stay logged in until you log out. If you did not choose to keep your show private, your family should also be able to see your shows if they know your member name by selecting 'Browse Member' on the Photodex site. If you did choose the privacy option your family would still be able to view the show without log in only if you invited them to the show.

I think I have forgotten to tell you that I try to link from my private web site to the show at the Photodex side

Here is a link to my private site (don't be scared it is in danish): http://www.carlsson.smorumnet.dk/Index.html
You're supose to get to my show by clicking the picture below the text Slægtsbilleder. It is below to the left.
When I click the link here I end up at Photodex but at the page where I can login. And that I don't want people to do.

Thank you.

I think you have the number for your show wrong in your HTML code. Go to the Photodex page with your show and right click and select 'view source'. The number you want is about 3/4 way down the page.

OK, Barbara is right, the link is wrong. It should look something like this

http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewsho ... 9537&alb=0

(that is a short funny one I did at Christmas), but your link should look
like that except the number after the "?fl=" will be unique to your show.

If I use the link you have on your web page, it takes me to the
sharing login page (and in my case wants me to login to my account).

Thanks.
I belive it is this line:

http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewalbum.html?alb=0

I have now pasted this line in the link and clicked "remember me" at the Photodex share login.

I think it is working. Could I ask one of you to try again?

If this is working - which I hope it will - what happens to people who don't have the presenter? Will they be asked to download it or should I have another link on my site to the "download of the presenter"?

Mikey:
It was a nice christmas show. Now I miss Christmas.

By the way... I know those cakes from Texas bakery. We sometimes order one in my office for delivery in november. It does last for a few weeks :D

Closer ... but not there yet -- the link you need to have will
have the part I indicated in the link where it has the
"?fl=1234567" or whatever number it is that points to your
actual show. Notice the link I had and how it has that number
in it -- yours should look just like that except the number will
be different (but there will still be a number there).
When you click on your show to play it, notice the address
in the browser address field at the top (it will not be correct
unless you actually click on your show first). Notice the
link you had has "viewalbum" where as the link you need
will have "viewshow" as part of the link.

Glad you liked my Christmas humor -- one of those things
that took about 2 hours - found the music and just *had* to
make a show to go with it

Ahh, now I have got it. I think

I had linked to the page just before the running of the show. :?
A minor detail.

I'm sure you will enjoy the show: it is in danish and without music. And it runs for hours!
Will have to do something about that now I have it published

Thanks,

It works now. I guess I misunderstood what you wanted to do. I thought you wanted to view the show on your web site and not just link to it. Your site has the HTML code inserted which would be used to view the show on your site:
<script language="javascript" src="presenter.js"></script>
<script>PhotodexObject("ProShow","ashow","http://www.photodex.com/shows/124525_20070204100448.px","580","435");</script>
<script>PresenterControls("ashow",580);</script>

Glad it's working anyway.

Thank you Barbara.

It was me idea at first to put the show on my own site but I don't have the space. And I thought the code you mentioned was the one for the link to Photodex.

Anyway, it is working and it is actually easy to do... when you know the trick.
:D

Thanks to everybody.

Lena,

The code I copied from your web site is actually the HTML code to play the show on your own site after you have uploaded it to Photodex. No space is needed on your own site. If you're still interested in doing this read Mike Gregg's instructions in this post:
