AVI in show crash Proshow 9

Postby Cesium » Mon Apr 23, 2018 8:00 am

I have a show composed only of jpeg files and that complies into an exe file OK. However if I add a single avi video from my Canon SLR the show looks ok on preview but as soon as I try to compile the show into an exe Proshow crashes. I can compile a DVD from the same show with the video included OK. I am using Pro show producer 9 and Windows 10 fully updated.

Would converting the video to another format be likely to help, not probable i guess, or are there any other suggestions

Do you have MediaInfo? If yes, what does it say about the format of the avi?

If not, you can get it here. https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Once that info is determined you can make a decision on which way to go.

Thank you for that. I have installed Media Info and looked at the file in it. The output in text format is below unfortunately I have no idea what to do with it and if it contains any reason for the problem I have with my show. Does this mean anyting to you ??

The information in the video section indicates the file is a 1920x1080 MP4 at 25 fps. Try changing the extension to MP4. Maybe PSG is getting confused by the avi extension.

I'm not that familiar with Proshow Gold so I'm assuming it can handle a video file like this.

Heckydog

Thank you. That was a very good idea :D . With the new extension the show compiles with no problems. I also tried a test with an avi from a different source and that worked OK.
So it must be something to do with the way my Canon camera writes the AVI.

Glad to hear it was an easy fix.

MediaInfo is a must have utility in my book. I'm sure you'll find it useful in the future.
