Memorial for my Father-in-law

Postby gpsmikey » Wed Nov 11, 2015 7:16 pm

Back in August, my father-in-law passed (at the ripe old age of 93 !) and we decided we wanted to have a video to show at the church for the celebration of life. My wife wanted to keep it somewhat upbeat but hit the high points of his life and what was important to him. I used several pieces of music from the music library as well as several purchased from Jewelbeat. I also used a short segment of an audio tape we had of him talking about his WWII Navy experience. It was well received by the family and friends. Here is what I came up with - 13 minutes, nothing objectionable.

Sorry for your loss, Mikey. Please convey my belated condolences to your wife.

Mikey, I wanted very much to watch your show, but after lots and lots of tries with ALL of my browsers, it seems that it's not possible.
The buffering is stuck at 15% and doesn't load anything.
I checked the psg...tmp file and it never changes from 0 KB
I also checked your other shows on Photodex, and they seemed to play just fine, but not this one.
I don't know if it's my download speed or Photodex' server.

Hmmm - very odd. I had that issue earlier when I uploaded it so I deleted and re-uploaded it and it seemed to play fine. It is back to the 15% nonsense again for me too.

Here is a version on Vimeo I put up there ...
http://www.vimeo.com/144904544

Almost bedtime now - I will check it in the morning and if it is still in that strange state, try deleting and re-uploading again. If that doesn't fix it, I guess it is something I need to ask Photodex about  It is interesting that I can find the .px file in my temp folder (that matches what was uploaded) and it plays just fine and the menu on the front works as expected. Maybe the Wednesday bit is set? :D

Very nice celebration of life. The sequences told his story very well.

The photodex show loaded fine for me. The progress bar indicated it loaded in about 25 seconds.

Thanks folks! I think it is a Photodex server issue - I will talk to them about it.

It looks like there is some way their servers can get confused. This link to a new version should work OK.

Very nice show. I too had trouble viewing from the photodex link, but the vimeo link worked just fine. Nice touch at the end showing the couple on the bench.

Hello

Nice show. I am sure all the familly appreciated it and was happy to see him from childhood to old age with the important steps of his life.

Without knowing him, I was pleased to discover this american life...

Paix à son âme.

Very nice show, Mikey! Watched it on Vimeo. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my father in March 2015. It is always difficult to lose someone you love!
