intros and outros bottom side up

Postby SSteve » Mon Aug 27, 2007 2:34 pm

This is a new one I have not seen this talked about any where here.I just upgraded to the version 3.1974.I have several intros and outros plus numerous capters.I use the intros and outros in all most ever show. But now when I insert them in the show they are bottom side up I tried opening with Media player and they are fine.I have many of the logos Fox,universal,MGM.and such they open OK.All my images opens OK.I have the intros and outros in different folders than the Chapters so I don't think it has any thing to do with the folders ??Please do any one have an idea I am trying to finish a show.

Hi
To any one of the 30 viewers that has checked this post out.I do have a fix that I found but not a fix for the problem.I can drag the intro into my slide then dbl click on it and go up to rotate and select 180 degrees. That will fix the issue. But if any one knows why this is happening I really would like to know.
Thank You
Steve

Steve, the only thing I am aware of was a problem with a Microsoft
codec for DV if I remember correctly a year or two ago that gave
that symptom -- all I can remember is some things played upside
down and it may have only been in media player. You might snoop
around with Google in the video newsgroups a year or two back and
see if you find anything that sounds like what you are seeing.

This only happens with those particular clips you have ??
What happens if you use different video clips from somewhere ??

Here is a quick test to try -- create a simple show with 4 or 5 slides,
then export it as an uncompressed avi. See if you can import that
back into a new show (or existing one you are having a problem with)
correctly.

Thanks Mikey
I have tried all the pics, the theater logs.Ever thing I can find to open in my show all opens right except for the folder with the Chapters, and the folder that has the intros and outros. If I could remember where I found them would go back and download some new ones and see what happens.Have never did what you suggested but will try soon.I wonder if I ran one of them thru a editing program if it may save back to an up right position ??

Good afternoon to all
I called into support and explained to them what it is doing. And let me fill you in on the whole thing.
first it is still bottom side up I can correct that by going up to edit and using the rotate to 180 %.But then when I play it back for an example the twirling chairs then it says THE END.instead of that it reads backward the is (3HT) END is (DN3)or at least something like that.
So now support had me download a converter "super C" I think my problem may be not sure what or how to use.I have tried 3 different encodes and save them then when I try to use them it tells me an unknown file or so.Can you maybe tell me what file I should try and save these as ??they are a small video type file called "movie clip"windows media player opens them for me.This is a brand new thing after DL new version have been using the clips for 2 years in PSG never a problem.I hate to have to go back to an older version.

OK, Steve here is something to try -- check out this thread
http://www.proshowenthusiasts.com/viewtopic.php?p=21803
grab a copy of "gspot" and tell us what it shows for the codec
etc for the files in question.

You don't, by any chance, have a link to where you got those
clips so one of us can try one and see what happens ??

Since I have never run into this issue (and have not really
heard of anyone else with it) before, I am sort of fumbling
along in the dark ... wait a minute ... I think that's how I
ended up married !! :D

From what I could tell on the post you sent me to what ever his problem was he fixed by removing and reinstalling.UM MM I wonder if I should try that. But I will go back and grab a DL of the gspot program.Oh and no I found these about 2 years ago and so afraid I am going to lose them I looked all over for them so now I keep a copy on each computer and also in a couple of external HD.

:?: Eh ??

What does "gspot" report that the files were encoded with ?
It should tell you what codec and stuff like that.

Well Steve, I'm not sure what you are up against -- it does show your
data is an mpeg2 video, but I was hoping we would find more info that
way. I did do some searching on "mpeg2 inverted video" and did find
a number of references by people to the issue. One possible solution
was the K-Lite codec pack (I have not tried that). See if the following
links help at all in your case:

http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/986p1.html
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?postid=1301807
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic150504.html
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic300603.html#1517623
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic150504-30.html

None of them provide a clear solution, but this is not an unknown
issue as you will notice. Can you import any other mpeg2 files
into your show correctly ? It sounds like a codec got somehow
changed or replaced from what I have seen in the comments, but
since I have not seen the issue, I can't do much more to help
unfortunately.

Unfortunately I don't have anything to add to the codec issue, but if you want to show us the screen-shot that you get in gspot, you can upload it here:
http://img176.exs.cx/
They'll give you a link which you can then post in this forum.

In addition, if you like, you can upload your problematic video here:
http://rapidshare.com/
and also post the link they give you in this forum or send a private message to Mikey with the link.

Sorry, can't help more. Never heard of an upside/down video.

Well Thanks a lot I went into those listed URLs did not see any thing like mine.I think my next step will be to remove and reinstall,If that does not work will install an older version. I will let you know and if all else fails will call support back.

If you wish to share things with this group, my suggestion would be to first check if people are interested. Upload your shows first at the Photodex site, maybe in a folder called Intros & Outros. Post the link in the Sample Shows section of this forum.
If people are interested, then you'll have to send your files to the administrator of the forum and he will upload. Read here:

Intros and outros

Mikey and Cherub
Well great news (I am posting this back because I see there were 304 viewers so maybe some one has had the same problem and this worked) I discovered a program called Super C.It took me a bit to learn how to use it.I suppose it does not say much for my smarts,so easy to use no directions but I did.I ran the movie file thru this program and changed the format to MPG.With my, intros and outros, Chapters,Counts,I may have say 30 or so of these so I did the batch recode.Saved them in a new folder and opened up Proshow Gold and they all work, seats upright text turned in the right direction. So all is well Had the SSteve house again. Photodex had me download Super C but did not make any suggestions as how to use.
Thank you Mikey and Cherub for your efforts.
Steve
