How to disconnect between layers
Hi All,
I have a style with 4 replaceable layers which mean by adding an image to one layer all the rest 3 are added with the same image.
How can I separate them so that each layer will have his own image?
Thanks
Shaul

Hi Shaul, בוקר טוב
As far as I remember, you are a user of Producer, so this post should have been posted in the Producer part of the forum (PSP General Discussion or Tips and Tricks)
Without knowing the exact style that you have in mind, I can only suggest a general, and rather simple method.
Insert 4 blank slides in your show, all with the same time and with the same transition time
In each slide, apply the style. Insert in each one a different picture.
Now, start deleting:
In slide 1 delete layers 2,3, and 4
In slide 2 delete layers 1, 3 and 4
In slide 3 delete layers 1, 2 and 4
In slide 4 delete layers 1, 2 and 3
Now, go to the timeline, where you can see all your slides.
Select all these 4 slides (with Ctrl) and right click.
From the menu that opens choose Combine Slides.
Now you have just one slide with 4 different pictures

Re: How to disconnect between layers
Good question, and thanks for that workaround Mona!
Windows 7 HP 64-bit, Intel i5 2500K Quad Core, 8GB RAM, 1.0GB Ge-Force NVIDIA GTX 560i, Adobe Photoshop CS5, Producer 6 (GPU Benchmark was 336, now 324), a big old Canon 20D and a funky Canon Powershot G15
Re: How to disconnect between layers
Hi Iris,
Actually this is the 2nd time that I'm posting this workaround, but I couldn't find my previous post
But, one should remember that usually duplicates of the same layer are placed in a style for a reason. Most probably the creator wanted to convey a certain effect: eg: perspective, light effects, transparency effects, reflections, etc. So, I'm not sure that placing different pictures instead of the duplicates, will show these other pictures at their best.

Re: How to disconnect between layers
Yeah, I see where you are coming from Mona... it would certainly screw up a few of the built-in effects. However, I reckon it could be something quite useful in the right circumstances and as its something I've never thought of doing myself, I will be trying it out. I do use the 'Combine slides' feature now and again, but this new idea has caused the cogs in my brain to start turning.
Thanks!

The connection is made automatically while saving the slide as a slide style. If the same picture is used several times in a slide, then the style will automatically register all those layers as duplicates, and therefore they will get linked.
Re: How to disconnect between layers
You might find this helpful: http://fpvp.wordpress.com/layers/layer-linking/
With this technique/approach, the only thing that changes is the link between the layers. Knowing how to do this technique allows you to manually create links between layers or to break them without having to resort to creating a style (not that that is a bad thing, mind you).
The technique given by Mona is a good one if there are no modifiers on the associated layers (the modifiers tend to become inoperative) and if the effect is relatively simple. The more complex the effect, the more difficult the technique becomes to pull off.
There's another brute force technique where you basically recreate the layer of interest and all of its keyframes and then recreate all keyframe settings (duplicating the layer simply gives you another layer with all of the same characteristics, including the linking). Then, adding or adjusting/editing any affected modifiers that may have existed. What a pain.
Directly editing the (duplicate of the) PSH file is quick and effective.
