Can I expect the photo quality to improve to my picasa level once the slideshow is rendered and uploaded?

Yes. They are not as clear as in Picasa and are of a quality I wouldn't want as an end result.

Well, this is not normal. The pictures should be clear and sharp, also when you work on your show.
This could point to a problem on your computer.

Please do the following:
Go to:
Edit > Preferences > Playback

Do you see a green bar with the words "GPU Acceleration is enabled" ?
OR
Do you see a red bar that GPU Acceleration is not enabled?

ProShow ver. 5 requires a strong graphic card and a strong computer, and if GPU Acceleration is not possible on your computer, the images may look rather blurred.
The blurriness will disappear in the final output (video file or DVD)

What is your output format? What version of the program are you using? If it's the latest version, the default output will be controlled by the GPU rendering ... check to see if GPU acceleration is ON (if it is, you'll see a green bar; If not, it'll be red). If your video card supports GPU rendering you can manually select GPU acceleration manually if you want.

If GPU accelerated rendering is not select (or you can't select it), the default rendering resolution is the software fallback resolution. The default setting is 800x600 which will result is a "soft" appearance to your video at all settings larger than 800x600.

You'll find the GPU Accelerated Rending options under Edit | Preferences, Playback.

Ahhhh ok another issue caused by my old sluggish computer.

The new one scheduled for delivery this week can't arrive soon enough!!
