AVI Files not opening correctly in Sony Vegas Pro

Good afternoon, this is our first post, Using Proshow Gold , converted PSG project to AVI then tried to open it on Vegas time line .....it did open, but only Audio Track appeared, not any Video. I then converted the same PSG project to WMV file, Drug that onto Vegas time line, every thing opened perfectly!!Audio & Video. What do we need to do to get AVI files to open?? Thanks for your input,
