Video clip not playing fully

Postby Michael1939 » Sat Dec 15, 2012 9:35 am

I have imported a 36sec .avi clip into Proshow but it will only play for 18secs
Any ideas anyone?

You haven't said what you've tried so this is really just some questions to get started.

How long is the duration of the slide that it's on?

Whenever I've used a clip, just dropping the clip on the timeline sets the slide duration to the length of the video... if you look at that slide, the slide settings, what's the duration there?

Can you force the length of the slide to 18 sec and get the whole thing?

Thanks Dick. The clip is 36secs long and the only clip on the show. I've increased the length to different setting but it still stops at 18 secs. At first I had some music on it and the music continued to play for the duration. I took the music off in case it was the problem.

Have you tried resaving the video in another format? Perhaps the coding, for some reason, is giving ProShow indigestion.

This occurs before I save it Barbara. It just won't run for the full length in the Proshow editing screen.

No, I'm not saying to save the show in a different format. I'm saying to save the video clip in a different format. For instance, you could try .WMV to see if that works.

One more thing to try -- I don't expect it to work but it's so easy to do that I'd try it. Using that show, make some variety of rendered video output (an MPEG for example) and see if it does the same thing. Occasionally problems show up in preview that aren't there in a rendered output.

However, I agree with Barbara -- it sounds like ProShow is having a problem with the video and the only thing I know to do is what she suggests, convert it to another format of video and hope the issue doesn't get converted with the video.
