hcajones,

I just re-read this whole thread, and here is what bothered me in what you wrote:

In Windows 7, I cick on Computer. I then click on OS(C:)

Why are you clicking on your OS?
Direct your search to your whole computer.
Just mark "computer" and proceed to search, using the parameters that I gave above.

...but each of these searches takes a long time even though I have a high-end computer.

A long time is, of course, a relative thing. If you have to wait, say, 5 minutes, that can seem truly long, and so Joe's suggestion might be a good one for you. I've divided my drives up into 3 (because of the way I work), and granted, the largest ones are only 320 gig, but a search on them runs super fast.

The description of what you did makes it very strange, indeed, that you deleted anything at all, in which case, I can't imagine how the show could have been lost. (Joe, would a bad sector do this?)

Probably not. Something like a psh file would take up multiple sectors so you might have a corrupted show but it wouldn't disappear entirely. That's very unlikely anyway. I think operating systems today are smart enough to not write to a bad sector, if there is one.

It's very odd that every bit of that show has disappeared, even the backup files. I agree with Mona about how the OP is doing the search. I read her post and I didn't catch it either. I start a search from the Start button, I don't use My Computer.

Unless the user goes to some effort to find and then delete that folder there's no way I can imagine that would delete/destroy/corrupt the PSH and all the backup files. Any one of them, sure, that can happen. All of them -- nope. They're either there somewhere or the OP deleted them.

For a quick check, make a short show and press "Save As". See where it's saved from the box - hopefully your other show will have been saved in the same place.

I've had to do this any number of times inside any number of programs. :D

I know this may sound dumb, but did you look in your recycle bin. If you did accidentally delete it, it should be there unless you emptied your recycle bin and hopefully you are like me and don't do this often. I am the paranoid sort. LOL
Also, what version Windows? are you running. I know nothing about other systems. What is your indexing method? I don't know how much you change these things but sometimes people turn off indexing or schedule it to run once a month or whatever because it can slow down a system. You may need to run a fresh index which can take time but you can do it at night while you sleep. Have you found your other .psh files and are they all in the same place?

Every single time. If I'm not minding what Windows is up to, it tosses things into the Documents folder. Granted, there has to be a default location, and Documents has been just that for a long time, but I view it with venom. I've got Firefox trained to save all downloads to the Desktop. Wish I could also train Windows.

I've wondered the same thing. It was a huge mystery because if a search is done the way Mona suggested (*.psh), there's no way Windows would miss a lot of files, given that ProShow uses the name "style.psh" for all built-in slide styles.

It was my show. It was never found, or any part of it. I searched in every way suggested by everybody and some others. It's a complete mystery. I've done many shows since and nothing like this has happened again. I've wondered if my anti-virus program (Malwarebytes) or Spybot ran amok and wiped out all these files for some reason, although that seems very unlikely because I didn't run any scans before the files disappeared. As I said, a complete mystery.
