I can get the loyalty discount as long as I do this by Sept 1, so I hope to be in at that time.

Are you saying you applied for the discount back on August 1?

Don't remember the exact date, think it was more like the middle of the month, but they sent me an email confirming the price.

As far as I know, the "loyalty discount code" they will send you is only valid for 30 days from the time they send it, but the discount itself applies as long as you have owned Gold for "2 years or more" - I have never seen anything indicating there was a "window" of 30 days. Call them and confirm it, but if you look at that page I posted the link for, it clearly says "2 years or more".

Mikey, that business about 30 days is in the text just beneath the chart. I don't remember ever seeing it before.

Yeah, I see that statement about them only being valid for 30 days from being issued, but nothing there says they can't give you a new one if you are past the 30 days - the chart itself is open ended with the "2 years or more" statement. You would have to call them to confirm that though. Many of these type things only have a hard limit on them if it applies to them giving you money (rebates - 30 seconds late getting it in and no rebate), however, if it is something where it is an incentive for you to give them money, they tend to be more forgiving and willing to "give you another chance" to send them money

Mikey, I think you've hit the golden nail on the head.
