Importing .m2t HD video into PSG 5

Thu Apr 19, 2012 5:50 am

I use Adobe Premiere Elements 9 to edit video. The recommended output for HD video that is to be further edited is an MPEG file that has the extension .m2t. Unfortunately PSG 5 does not recognize .m2t files; however, I noticed that PSG 5 does recognize files with the extension .m2ts. Curious, I simply renamed the .m2t file to have the .m2ts extension. The renamed file was recognized and added to my PSG 5 show without any problems.

I don't pretend to know all the whys and wherefores and there is probably a better workflow or procedure but renaming works.

Good info to know.

I read somewhere that the m2t extension is used for recording to flash cards because the cards only recognize 3-letter extensions. So in essence m2t and m2ts are the same codec.

Sort of like jpg and jpeg being the same format and being interchangeable. Perhaps Photodex has opted to recognize only the 4-letter extension.

What gets really confusing is when you start talking about containers like MOV, AVI, and H264.
