Worth it to upgrade to PSP from Gold?

Postby kwill1229 » Fri Feb 08, 2008 5:57 am

I am thinking about upgrading from Gold to Producer. I think some of the features in PSP would be helpful to have (e.g. Caption Motion, URL links) but my question is: Is it worth the price?

What is your experience?

Thanks. Karen

Karen

Welcome to the forum.
If you have had Gold for some time, over a year or two years do not forget there is a 'loyalty' program reduction in price.

I would say the time to upgrade to Producer is when Gold does not do everything you want. You have obviously found that you could do with Caption Motion and URL links, so maybe this is the time. Look at when you purchased Gold and make sure your not missing out on the 'loyalty' by a short period of time.

I still believe 'Keyframes' is the best advantage.

Two other things that I really like that Producer does that Gold does not ..
1) allow you to export your show as an uncompressed avi file (you can then
do all sorts of more fun things in a video editor with it).

2) allow you to unlock the X and Y zoom - you can get some neat effects
with the unlocked XY thing that you just can't do in Gold. Not a big selling
point, but worth considering. This is an example of doing the unlocked
thing http://www.photodex.com/sharing/viewsho ... 0885&alb=0
If you search the forum for "magic wands" or something like that (wands
was part of the subject), you will also find some other really cool examples
of "floating wands" that turn into pictures etc.

Yes, I watched your demo on x, y ratio the other day Mikey and thought it was great. Karen, you will be amazed with the cool effects acheived using that function alone. Another great feature of Producer, and one of my favorites, is masking.
