Logging On

Postby briancbb » Thu Jun 14, 2007 1:47 pm

Can anyone spread some light on this

My main computer I have been able to log on to 'Proshow Enthusiasts' no problem, until this morning. (Usually it logs me in automatically). Today it asked me to login. I entered my 'username' and 'password' at the top of the index page. They were accepted, but I was not 'logged in', the index page refreshed still asking me to log-in. Tried a second time same result. Tried with an incorrect password, that threw me out to the ' incorrect username/passoword' page, so my username/password' used originally was correct. :?

Have a second PC connected on LAN, that logs in no bother

Anyone any isea what setting is wrong on my prime machine

Brian,

I have also been having to log in each time for the last couple of days. Just figured it was b/c of the move. Seems to be ok the last couple of times I have come on.

That was happening with me as well but when I logged in today - I didn't have to confirm my password or user id.

Same thing with me. I have to log on every time and I don't get the red indicaters for new posts. I still haven't figured it out.

Same for me. I have to log in each time and I don't have the red indicators. (Which I really like having)

The reason for the login issues has to do with the cookies. I myself ran into the issue in the beginning and was even locked out of the admin panel for a time. Here are a couple of things to try that might take care of the problem.

1) Make sure you navigate to www.proshowenthusiasts.com - be sure to include the www and nothing should be shown after .com (no /index.htm or /index.php)

2) Clear your cache and delete your cookies. There are ways of deleting only cookies for the message board without deleting all of your cookies. Refer to your browser's internet settings or help option to find more information on how to do this.

3) Log in to the site and select the option to have the site remember you.

This should allow you to login and leave the site and return later without having to log back in.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but it's a small hassle that hopefully we all go through for a short time and never have to deal with again.

If you continue to have problems let me know.

Mike

Yep -- once I tossed my cookies, all was well again
(recognize that when you do delete the cookies, it will create a new
one when you log on -- the side effect of that is "new" posts will
be any after this new cookie is created NOT from when you were
on before the change). In the software business, we refer to that
as a "feature" :? (but it only will happen the first time you logon
to the new url - from then on all will be as before).

Thanks Mike, and everyone else.

At least I have not been alone.

I took it one stage at a time, and the first stage worked.

Internet browser (IE7) tools, Internet Options, Browsing History, Delete, Tempory Internet Files and hit the delete button there.

Have now logged on with no problem.
