Firmware Update if you have a Samsung 840 EVO SSD

Postby heckydog » Fri Oct 24, 2014 6:06 am

If you have upgraded your OS disc to a solid state drive and you happened to have purchased a Samsung 840 EVO SSD, a firmware update has been released by Samsung to fix a problem. It's a very popular SSD and I'm pretty sure there's a number of people here who have one. . . . . . . . . or two :D

Below is a link to an article on the Tom's Hardware website explaining the issue and at the bottom of the article is a link to a zip file containing the exe file and a pdf file on how to do the upgrade. It also explains the cautions you should take if you choose to do the update.

You can read the article and comments and decide for yourself. I did it and had no problems.
