Saving Shows on Utube

Postby mikemullett » Thu Sep 19, 2013 2:50 am

There are some stunning shows posted on the Proshow website, but some are posted on utube. I have written a batch file to automatically save shows on the website, but I cannot save the utube shows for further viewing.
Is this deliberate to stop members from saving the shows :?:

Dear "frustrated Mike" :D

There are a number of 3rd party applications that can help you save the videos from YouTube.
I like DownloadHelper which is an extension (add-on) for Firefox. It does a perfect job.
If you use Firefox, you can install it from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... oadhelper/

PS
This should have been posted in General Discussion, I think.

Thanks Mona - I use IE but will search the net. Can I move my post as you suggest to General Discussion, or is this a task for Mike

If you hit the exclamation button, then select the category of it being off topic, then type your message requesting the thread to be moved to General Discussion , the moderator would eventually get around to moving it.

I also use the download helper for Firefox and it works quite well ... usually. Periodically, either an update to Firefox or change in phase of the moon seems to break things for a while, but it usually works quite well and allows you to save the video in one of the available formats.

Hi Mike

I use a handy little utility from keepvid.com that sits nicely on my Chrome toolbar. When I watch a video on the Tube that I'd like to keep for offline viewing, I click the little 'Keep it' button and save the video(s) to my hard drives in mp4 format 8)

Works a treat for me at this end

Hi Mike,
I used Real Player to download videos from You -Tube, etc. You can either right-click or hit the Real Player download link in the upper right hand corner to save to your hard drive.
