The poor couple is dealing with the true rulers of the world: bureaucracy. How does one do battle with an army of little people who aren't responsible for anything?

Well, this sounds all too familiar, and if you think this is just Bangkok, think again. I've had my shares of sitting in the immigration office in Detroit with my , then 7 and 9 year old kids, from 8 AM till 8 PM. A building packed with immigrants and the only thing that was guaranteed was that all these government workers would be taking a 2 hr. lunch break . Even if it was just a simple stamp you needed they would have you wait all day long.
I would not expect bureaucracy being any less in a country like Thailand , so I guess Mike and his new wife will have to just go with the flow > the slow flow that is.. Sad, but nothing that can be done about that.

Thanks to everyone that has taken an interest in what is currently going on. It's a frustrating situation, but hopefully things will work out in the end.

For those that have written to me personally commenting on the Thai government, please note that Thailand has nothing to do with the delays. This is all the US government's doing. They are the ones that must grant the visa and allow my wife to join me in the US. Thailand's government doesn't have a say in the matter. We're at the mercy of a faceless person that can simply make a decision based on how they feel that day. Hopefully that person wakes up in a happy mood.

Probably things will work out in the end, but they usually have you wait .. and wait some more. I know it's the US immigration being a pest in this matter. Being a non citizen, but a permanent resident I have had to deal with lots of bureaucracy and absurd abusive behavior from US immigration personal , but things have improved over the years, at least in the Detroit immigration office . I hope for you and your wife things will be solved soon. It indeed all depends on one person, and you can only hope that person is willing to work that day..

Mike and Rotchana,

Hope all works out for you sooner rather than later. So sorry to hear of all your frustrating experiences. However, I did read that there is a "little" silver lining in your saga, based on your teaser! CONGRATS!!

Good for you Mike. May your life together now be sweet, and the third one of the family add more sugar.
