Daguerreotypes & Sergio

Postby BarbaraC » Wed Apr 29, 2009 5:35 am

One of my long-time friends, Sergio Bertolini, is a photographer in Italy. He saw the Daguerreotype frames I'm now selling at The Frame Locker even before they were uploaded, and he immediately insisted he be the first to use them. The man does excellent work, and so I'd like to share him and his "antique" photographs with you:

You know I loved that creation of yours the first time I saw it. Sergio's beautiful images are a perfect compliment to those elements.

Chrissy and Debbie: There's something about those antique photographs that just draws us in, isn't there? It's the feeling of a tiny moment in the past captured forever, but what's truly odd is that, if we simulate the old-photograph effect, the same feeling emerges even though we know it isn't true, that it's simply a photo we took yesterday or last week. Maybe we're just happily fooling ourselves.

Sergio is wonderful photographer who is slowly turning professional, most recently selling to a gallery in Switzerland. One day he'll be so famous that he won't know who I am anymore. :D

Here's the link to all of Sergio's sets: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brtsergio/sets/ You'll notice that he goes through artistic phases, these phases a source of ongoing surprise. Just when I think I have a handle on who he is artistically, he proves I know very little about the way he sees the world.

"Merlin," I've answered your PM. :D
