Forum breaking down?

Postby BarbaraC » Fri Oct 26, 2007 6:44 am

Am I the only one, or are others getting error messages when clicking back and forth in the forum?

Barbara,

I get them from time to time but not always. I got one this morning when I clicked on a topic but hit the back button and tried again and it hasn't happened again. Eventually it will though.

I am having problems too. I am not getting error messages, I just can't get the site to open. A lot of times the avatars are missing. I have been having the same problem with other sites, so I assume it has more to do with my computer.

Put your computer on the treadmill -- that way it will be
exercised ...

I periodically get strange error messages about "critical db error" and I
saw one this morning that was actually somewhat informative to the
effect there was insufficient memory (RAM) which may be what is going
on when it gets confused (or there is a memory leak and it finally hits
full causing a restart, but I would have expected the server owners to
have figured that one out before this).

Sometimes clearing your Temporary Internet Files will alleviate that problem.

Click on Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files and click the Delete Files button.

I am planning on getting more memory today. I hope that does the trick. Good news, there are no evil  across the topics on my lastest login.

When browsing, I frequently get "page not found or "critical bb error." When submitting a reply, under a different topic a few minutes ago, I got "out of memory" but my post does get submitted.

For what it's worth, my comment about insufficient memory was not on
my side -- it was a SERVER SIDE ERROR - whatever server it is on was
having memory issues. Nothing you will do on your side will have any
impact on server side issues (other than the obvious "don't go there so
it won't need to allocate memory to your process) "

Mikey is right, server error and all kinds of memory problems on their side.
