Unable to burn DVDs
Help! I've been using PSP for a year or two now and have not had any serious problems. However I have recently changed to a new more powerful computer and while pleased with its performance I find I am now unable to write DVDs with PSP. The DVD drive seems OK (with other applications, Nero, etc) but when I try to burn in PSP it stops after a few seconds and reports "DVD Creation cancelled". I've checked all the settings and found nothing untoward.
Hope someone can help - before I lose any more hair!

there have been quite a number of posts from people experiencing
trouble burning DVD's from Producer -- their burning software is
somewhat, shall we say, less than robust ?? What has worked for
many of us (and is the way I always do it) is to "burn" to an ISO
image on your hard drive then use something like the free Imgburn
to actually burn that to the DVD. To burn to an ISO, on the
burn menu where you select your drive, one of the options is
for the "ISO burner" or words to that effect. Select that, you will
be prompted for a save location and file name. From there, you
can burn with Nero (you indicated you had that) or the free
imgburn (which I like even though I also have Nero). If you do
use Nero, make sure you burn the dvd from the ISO, not make
the common mistake and burn the ISO to a normal data DVD
in which case, you end up with a data dvd with an ISO file
stored on it - handy, but somewhat less than functional

Many thanks for your response mikey.
Unfortunately I tried the ISO method and the same problem occurs as it starts to produce the ISO.
However, I've found that if I exclude the Menu element (choosing No Menu) from the burning it all seems to work OK, both for the DVD and the ISO. I am a bit foxed as the Menu was just a simple 1 thumbnail default - nothing fancy.
Any further thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards
Ken

Strange. Well, we have elimintated the actual drivers to the DVD
with the ISO test (which has helped many people). I have not
heard your particular one before, but a couple of things come to
mind:
1) make sure nothing you are using for the menu is on a network drive
(there have been a number of comments about Photodex not
supporting network drives).
2) try making an entirely new menu and see if that works (don't
use anything that was part of the old menu).
Other than that, I don't have any other ideas off hand.
Maybe someone else here can think of something else?

I would now be wondering about a corrupt generated file by PSP. Mikey seems to have eliminated driver and other hardware/software problems.
Try deleting the .pxc file for the show and rerender it before burning. (Hope you are using rewritables to save on the coasters )
If this fails, exit Producer and delete the cpic.opt and def.phd. files in the 'my programs', 'photodex', 'producer' directory. These will be recreated when Producer is restarted. For some reason these can get corrupted and cause wierd problems, then try rerendering again and burning.

Hi Folks
Many thanks for all your helpful suggestions.
Brian's suggestion of deleting the cpic.opt and def.phd files seems to have done the trick and now all is working fine. Now I seem to remember having to do this once before some time ago when video clips were not importing properly. If only I could increase the size and efficiency of my own memory as easily as the PC's!
Thanks again
