Re: can't find proshow.phd
Charlaine,
Welcome to the board. Assuming that you are using version 4, the files that you are looking for are likely here:
c:\program files\photodex\ProShowProducer
The files are ProShow.cfg and ProShow.phd
These are configuration files for the program. Have you tried just deleting the PXC file for your show. Do NOT delete the PSH file. This is your actual show. The PXC file is located in the directory where you are storing your show. While you are there, you could also delete the PSdata directory. ProShow will rebuild all of these files on the next restart.
If you are using version 3, then the files are diferent names. I won't confuse you by adding them here. Post back if you are using version 3.

Re: can't find proshow.phd
Hi there! Here's what I do re the proshow.cfg & proshow.phd:
* Go to All Programs & locate ProShow Producer; next . . .
* Right click on the ICON of ProShow Producer
* Now, click on Properties [General]
* Next, click on Open File Location
Now you'll see a list of all the files PSP uses to create show. Scroll down the list to locate those two culprits:
proshow.cfg
&
proshow.phd
Now you can zap those two. It has solved many of my problems.
Hope this helps & will solve your problem. Cheers,

Hmmm... That's indeed strange, very strange. Perhaps proshow.phd heard that you were after it, and ran away - perhaps with its buddy cfg? Just kidding . . . I know just how frustrating this is - been there myself . . .
I'm sure Vista has nothing to do with it - I have Vista. [Incidentally, I always run Vista as an administrator.] After you located the proshow producer file with the proshow icon next to it, did you right-click on the icon?
After right-clicking on the proshow icon you should see something similar to what my first screen shot in my previous post indicates. And from there, just follow the steps I've outlined in my previous post. Both the phd & cfg files are listed there, among a couple of other dozen files - all listed alphabetically.
Give it another try. Hope you'll solve this problem. I'm sure another Forum member will come up with other suggestions.
Cheers,
- aida

Re: can't find proshow.phd
I think that you simply don't see all your files and folders.
Does Vista have this option of showing files:
Tools > Folder Options > View >
Put a check mark on "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
The default in XP is "Hide" and probably in Vista too. You should uncheck "Hide" and check instead "Show"
Now you will be able to see all the files of a program.
BUT:
The problem that you report here is related to the registration of your Proshow Producer.
If you have a legitimate copy of the program, I suggest you report your problem to Photodex.
If not, you should know that deleting files is not a permanent solution, and you will face this problem again, when you try to output to any kind of media: DVD, web show, exe show.

Aida:
Your post from years ago just saved the day for me! My Proshow Producer was glitchy and doing all kinds of weird stuff and would not let me exit without using task manager. Thanks to your clear directions AND MARVELOUS PRINT SCREEN PICTURES, this granny was able to follow your directions and save the video I had created for my mom's funeral handout. YOU ARE AN ANGEL TO ME, THANK YOU! Donna77642 in Texas
