PSG won't load

Postby burntb4 » Fri Sep 14, 2007 6:22 am

I've been working on a fairly long show for awhile now and took a break last night after a few hours. Saved and closed the program. This AM I clicked on my PSG shortcut and got a message:
Proshow.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Tried re-start and full shutdown and reboot but keep getting the same message.

Any suggestions or thoughts??

Try opening a different show and see if that works. If others
open OK, try deleting the .pxc file for the show you are having
problems with (NOT the .psh file !!) - the .pxc is a temp file
used by proshow and I have had strange things happen when
it gets corrupted. It will rebuild it (may take a few minutes).

If you can't open any other shows either, it is a different problem.
There are a couple of files that briancbb has pointed to a couple
of times that can get corrupted, but I don't have the link on
that handy off hand. They can be deleted and will also be
rebuilt. Ah, here is the info from Brian (I had put it in my notes file)

Briancbb (aka mr. bagpipes) wrote:If this fails, exit Producer and delete the cpic.opt and def.phd. files
in the 'my programs', 'photodex', 'producer' directory. These will be
recreated when Producer is restarted. For some reason these can
get corrupted and cause weird problems, then try re-rendering again
and burning.

If this fails I would uninstall and reinstall Producer.
Not that I have had to do this, but other members have.

Glad that worked. I have not had that problem, but I have seen it
enough times from others to realize that somehow, Proshow manages
to shoot itself in the foot :?
