Online swf Slideshow playback with many interruptions

Postby JackGray » Sat Sep 15, 2012 7:10 am

I am a novice in using Gold and building Flash slideshows for inclusion in webpages. I built several slideshows with no problems. However, the current one is giving me fits.

I began by building the show with sound and publishing it as a FLA. I then went to a third party software (Emicsoft FLV Converter) to convert the FLA to SWF. After embedding the SWF in my webpage it was extremely pixelated. Desktop rendering looked fine. Assuming that it might have been the converter program, I went to another converter app (Xilisoft FLV Converter). After the conversion and embedding, the result was many interruptions in the show, both video as well as audio. The same behavior is seen in all browsers tested (Foxfire, Netscape, Opera, & Safari), but strangely, the show plays as expected with IE8.

Here is a link to the show: http://slideshow.cny.wish.org/flash%20slideshows/Wish%20Ball%202012/wishball_2012.html.

BTW, I have already tried publishing to You Tube and then embedding the you Tube code. The results were unacceptable with advertising and interruptions in playback. However, these interruptions were not both audio and video at the same time.

Can anyone give me some direction? Thank you for all your help!

Jack

I'm seeing no interruptions at all (newest Firefox), though the quality is definitely low.

I use YouTube for demos embedded on my web site, and it's only a matter of adding &rel=0 to the embed code to keep garbage from showing up. I also use &fmt=22 because that's part of the code ProShow supplies and that signifies HD. Here's an example. (Don't click it because it's a made-up address.)

Jack,

I don't do these things, but I checked out the link and accessed the video via Firefox 15 and an older WinXP system - absolutely no problems in audio or video. I didn't watch all of it - kind of long, but to the end of the first audio clip, then another 30 seconds or so.

So, don't see what you are experiencing.

Hmmm! That's really odd. Any suggestion about what could be going on? Why would it work correctly in IE8 and not in all the other browsers? Operating system is latest build XP with sp3. I've installed latest version of Adobe Flash plugin for the browsers. I'd love to be able to figure this out, although it's nice to know that the show is working correctly for everyone else.

Just a thought.

Did you try the same browser and time of day?

Sometimes internet traffic is just busy and things get held up.

Playing fine in IE9, no stutters.

Taking out the trash, cache, etc. didn't work. One other hint is that each pause is at exactly the same point in the timeline across all the browsers. Huh! :? :? :?
