ProShow exits when trying to create output
OS: Windows 7 (64-bit)
Version: ProShow Gold 4.51.3003
I am using ProShow Gold to make time lapses, as it usually works very well with that purpose in mind. But the other day when I tried to create one with about 300 images, it would not let me view the options under "Create Output -> Video File".
I've never had any problems with this before, so I tried with fewer images just to check (the same images I've used before without problems), but the same thing happened. When I click the "Video File" option the program simply shuts down - without any error messages. Does anybody have any theories or tips on what to do?

Re: ProShow exits when trying to create output
Try deleting the usual culprits: With Gold not running, and in your ProShow folder inside Program Files, look for proshow.phd and proshow.cfg. Delete both of them. When you reopen Gold, it will rebuild both those files. They periodically get corrupted, and this gives them a fresh start.

Re: ProShow exits when trying to create output
There is no file called proshow.phd in the folder. I tried deleting the .cfg file and reopen Gold, but nothing changed.
Re: ProShow exits when trying to create output
There can't NOT be a proshow.phd file. Look again, perhaps clicking on the "Name" column to get everything in alphabetical order so the files are easier to find.

Let's hope someone who uses Gold jumps in here. I use Producer, and I'm pretty sure Gold has the same files, but let's wait for confirmation. If it does, you may have to reinstall Gold. There's no harm, of course, in doing so anyway, but it seems weird that the file is missing.

Re: ProShow exits when trying to create output
From way way back, Gold had a proshow.phd file. Like you Barbara I do not have Gold now but my Producer has the file. Quite a large, several hundred Mb file.
If you examine the file most of it is unintelligable, but some parts can be read and contains information on just about everything on the machine, web sites visited, music, videos, goodness knows why, and a large section on Proshow shows.
Maybe if this file is missing, is the reason for the crashes, but then it should be regenerated when Proshow is restarted.

Re: ProShow exits when trying to create output
It's my understanding that, when things go awry, the .phd file is quite often the culprit. It sure has been in my case, and deleting it puts everything back into pristine condition. (What the devil is it doing collecting web site addresses? )

Both versions are the same in this.
