Couldn't upgrade to Proshow 5

Postby bettei » Sun May 13, 2012 1:15 pm

I went from Proshow Version 4.1 to version 5, the latest update, but when I tried to produce a slideshow it would crash at unexpected times. I didn't think it was very good on a computer to have it continually crash like that, so I contacted Photodex, and they credited my money and took me back to versions 4.1.

I am using XP, and have no crashing problems with 4.1, can anyone give me any explanations on why I am not able to use the upgraded version? They told me I could not even upgrade to 4.5, it had to be version 5 or nothing. I am pretty sure I have enough memory and ram.

I do like the program and would like to keep upgrading as I go or some of the purchased slide styles will not work with 4.1. Has there been any tweeks to version 5 in the last month that might make it work now on my computer?

ProShow 5 requires a good computer and especially a good graphic card.
Unfortunately, the RAM that you mentioned above, is only a part of those requirements.

What sounds a bit weird to me is why you cannot update to ver. 4.5. Did you ask them why?

I should ask them again, but the gentleman I spoke to said that Version 5 is the only one they are able to give me. He really didn't give me a reason.

I'm with Mona on this one. Sounds weird. They have version 4.5 still hanging around, so what's the problem? Push them on it.

Thinking of this further...
Perhaps updates are possible only to the very latest version (which is logical).
But, after having a license for ver. 5, you can then install any other version in between. That in between version is... the latest 4.5. :D

It depends on when your 1 year of upgrades expired. The latest release of 4.5 that I am aware of is 4.52.3053 - here is a link to it at Photodex, but if it is not within your 1 year, then you can't install it.
files.photodex.com/release/pspro_452_3053.exe

If you go to this link, you can put in your email address and it will tell you what the latest release is you qualify for under your purchase.

I purchased Proshow probably going on 2 years ago, so I guess I am out of luck? You said a computer needed a good graphics card to use version 5...is there a way up upgrade your computer with a graphics card?

You can get a better graphics card, but you might also have to buy a new power supply to support it. You'd do best talking with a knowledgeable tech who can take a look at your computer specs to help you decide if you can do it and if it's actually worth it.
