Project will not burn to DVD

Postby raindog » Sun Jan 15, 2012 5:49 pm

Hello,
My Pro Show Gold project of 112 jpegs and 6 MP3 files will not burn to a DVD. While the the project is rendering it quits about 2/3rds of the way through and the program then shuts down. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

If you're rendering directly to a DVD, try rendering to an ISO file.

Also, try rendering to an EXE file output. If that fails then there's something in the show that ProShow's rendering software can't handle. It doesn't happen often but it happens. The trick is to figure out what. The most likely case is one of the MP3 files--try a render with all of them removed. If that works then do a series of renders to EXE taking each MP3 out, starting with the last one and moving forward. After you've found the MP3 that causes the trouble load it into an editor (Audacity, freebie, will do fine) and do a trivial edit, then rewrite the file. You could also use a sound program to convert it to another format--same effect. Usually, just rewriting the file will fix it.

If it's not an MP3, then it's a JPG image--that's much, much less common but a couple others have reported it. The process is the same but harder because you've got more images. Try rendering 1/2 the show--works, add 1/2 the rest back; doesn't work, cut in half; repeat that until you close in on the one that makes the show fail. Again just pull the image into an editor and do a harmless edit so it will recreate the file. That usually fixes it.

Hope that helps!

What Dick said ! While mp3's will usually play correctly in a player, if they get corrupted, Proshow is somewhat less than helpful on letting you know it is corrupted. It vanishes. When you are looking for corrupted sound files, make sure you also check any that you have attached to a slide (like a funny sound or something). Another way to approach it would be to put together a quick new show and try using each one of your sound tracks one at a time to see which one causes a problem for the new show (very simple show - could be one slide for 4 minutes if you want). I would start with the ISO version first - if that fails, then move on to checking the sound files.
