Thanks for reminding me Al -- I had been going to mention those
text pages. One trick I have used (others have mentioned it also)
is to when you review your show, read the text OUT LOUD - if you
can't comfortably make it through before it ends, it is too short.
You do have to do it "out loud" though - it's too easy to sort of "skip"
through it silently since you already know what it says.

Al & mikey

Thanks guys for your input ....... I had to remove a few photos to fit the text slides in and still have enough time before the song ended. I was reluctant to place the text over one of the photos thinking it might be difficult to try to read the text and see what the photo was. In hind sight (sorry Al, not sure you can have hind sight with only one eye ....) I probably should have left out one or two photos and made the text slides longer.

BTW ............ I am not affiliated with PATH ....... it's only one of many organizations that help with the homeless. I chose them for this slide only because they were local to my area ....... Thanks for watching and helping me with your input.

Bob (and others) one trick you can sometimes get away with
(depends on the sound track) -- often, if you need another
10 or 15 seconds, use your audio editor (audacity etc) to
go in to the sound track -- see if you can identify a section
in the middle that is just sort of "there" - you can often either
copy and repeat it or copy and insert it elsewhere in the
track and if you do it right, no one knows :D Same thing
if it is too long - usually, the beginning and end are obvious,
but often a "chunk" can be removed carefully from the
middle without it being noticable. Usually fairly easy with
non-vocal stuff -- vocals usually make it harder.

Just another one of those free services (hey, what do you
expect for free ?? ). Something I have done a number of
times and it worked well.

Sound editing

Postby alcain » Wed Aug 15, 2007 10:34 am

Mikey, funny you should mention that. I am about to upload a new show (I haven't made one in a while for you folks) that had severe audio challenges. The song was 11 minutes and my show was only 4. But I wanted to repeat some of the elements in the intro for effect, plus there were some vocals in the middle that I did not want. Audacity to the rescue. I accomplished all of the audio editing I needed. The song is from Apollo 13... edited by yours truly. Bob, it is also fun to do. ~al

I think I know which vocal you are refering too. If it is the same one I am thinking about I'd be willing to bet that I edited out the same exact portion that you did and spliced it in the same place too when I made Hero. 8) Can't wait to view your show but with dial up I have to plan it.
