First day of school

Postby Producer Addict » Mon Aug 06, 2007 10:48 am

Granddaughter's first day of school. I'm just trying to create some memories for my daughter and granddaughter.

Feel free to comment, but remember I have a 60 yr old brain.

Cute kid -- In general I liked it - couple of things I would consider
changing.
1) the music really didn't seem to fit the transitions, but it was
nice for the show - you might consider making the transitions shorter
and synching them to the beat of the music.

2) on the picture where you went from her pointing up the
wall to the teachers name, since you are using producer,
I would use a couple of keyframes - start the slide with her
pointing, then a fairly smooth/fast pan up to the teachers
name and hold that for the last part of the slide - as it was,
it vanished just as you could start to read it.

3) You might also put a caption either at the start or end
about "first day of school and the date" so it will make
more sense 5 years from now.

Just my thoughts - good pictures and nicely put together. I liked
the beginning and ending shots of the school.

OK, here goes...

OK "Old man", here are my thoughts...

The opening screen with the text, "My first day of school" is difficult to read.
If you want to try something really, really cool... try this: Open the school sign in Photoshop. Select the "clone" tool. Sample the yellow sign and clone away the people. Now you have a blank yellow sign. Save as "BlankYellowSign.jpg" or whatever... Next, in Producer, insert this image after the regular school sign. Crossfade or maybe a wipe to the BlankYellowSign image with the text "My first day of school on the sign... just a creative idea for you (free of charge!).
I did not like the "jittery" text effect. She looks too happy to be nervous!
Maybe a caption on the bath shots like "Getting ready!"
She has a georgeous smile!
You use a lot of "pan out's" or "zoom out's" - ususlly a zoom in denotes closeness. Maybe consider trying the zoom in in place of some of the zoom outs.
Ending came a little soon and abrupt... but...
This is a wonderful show and I am sure they will treasure it always!
