A Dogs' Vacation Redone

Postby ivalirene » Thu Jul 19, 2007 7:03 pm

Just purchased Producer and haven't learned all the tricks yet.

I was house/dog sitting for the past week and put this together
for the owners so they would feel better about leaving their pet.

I hope it will make them and you LOL.

Any feed back or suggestions will be appreciated.

I am not a frequent contributor, but learn a great deal by viewing lots of shows
and reading many of the comments. Show is about 5 min

This is the link to the show which I edited as per some suggestions and my own re-thinking

What a cute show! The only thing I would suggest is slowing the geese down. Your photography is beautiful and I really liked the rain on the flowers. Looks like you two really bonded! I know his owners are happy knowing their family pet was in such great hands. I hope I can be so fortunate if I have to have someone come in and take care of my little Sukoshi!

Maybe when I come up for my renewal I will move up to producer.

Smiles,
Jean

Well, I basically like the show, but I think it needs a couple of things
(kind of rough ... or is that woof ? ). I would make most of the slides
with text on them 50% longer - they are too short to comfortably
read. I would also experiment with the fly-in and fly-out effects on
the captions - snapping on and off abruptly is kind of jarring if you
know what I mean. I think it needs to flow a bit smoother but
without playing with it, I'm not sure exactly what I mean. I think
they will love the show when they get home - always good to show
water when you have a golden around (the trick is getting them
back out ... ). I liked the pictures and the video, but the barking
on the "get the leash" was too long or loud (or at least it bothered
me and I am used to dogs). Possibly simply adjusting the volume
down after the first few barks (although that takes a separate
editor to be able to adjust the audio portion of a video clip according
to what others have been saying).

I know I sort of rambled, but that was just my impressions - I did
like it and felt it has lots of potential for when the owners return :D

A very enjoyable show, I liked the way you told the story with the captions then the 'photos. You
took some excellent photographs. The video with the dog leash, was very repetitive and in my
opinion should run for a shorter time. Otherwise, a well done cute show.

This was adorable, funny, and clever. It told a great little story. Your photography is good too!

I don't know if you are aware, but on the images where you used the mask/frame over your picture, you can make that larger and even change the size/shape with unlocking the x and y zoom coordinates to only make the horizontal or vertical largers/smaller if you want. I think this is not something one can do with PSGold.

I would have liked to have seen those images a little larger if possible. But no matter, you did a great job and I really enjoyed viewing the show.

Thanks for sharing that little gem with us. I will have to share it with hubby when he gets home. A long time ago, he used to have a number of Golden Retrievers. He will get a kick out of your show.

Thanks folks for your comments and suggestions. I'm glad you found the show enjoyable. I was not happy with many of the points that were mentioned, but the owners were arriving back and I ran out of time. Since then I did slow the timing on captions, enlarged the masks and slowed down the geese. I also made the orange ball bounce and rotate across the screen, I also shortened the barking video. I now need to download some software to edit the video sound. Thanks for your help.

I would expect the owners will be very flattered that you put
that much energy into the project and should enjoy it a lot.
(people with goldens tend to be pretty nice people). Amazing
isn't it how a "quick little" show can take so much time !!

Hope they enjoy it.

Editing Video in Producer

Postby debngar » Sat Jul 21, 2007 8:16 pm

I have not done this yet myself but....

I believe you can clip the video in Producer off the front or back end, kind of like you can do with the music editor without needing another program.

Go to Video Clip Settings>Trim Video.

I don't know how well it works but looks easy enough.

Debbie
