Great Blue Herons

Postby smunited » Mon Apr 28, 2014 7:56 am

Hi everyone, I live near a heron rookery, these images are from a recent visit. This show is short and hopefully sweet, 3 minutes. Nothing offensive. Look forward to your comments, suggestions, general and/or detailed. Sandra

Sandra,

Another great show. What beautiful photography, and I love the line art/illustrated type effects. Nice use of the new Style Pack v6 effects as well.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Ginger. I recently got the Sigma 150-500 Lens. I am finally able to get closer to the subject. It is always nice to have new transitions and styles to work with! Sandra

Nice! That should keep you busy for a while. I think I need the 500mm. I can't seem to get close enough to the birds with my 300mm without them flying off.

Indeed Nice change up with the effects you applied

I also live near A Great Blue Rookery and see a lot of images and a few shows from there with my photo group. BUT they are all more serious birders than I and would never apply creative effects.

Very creative way to present the great blue heron. I live near a rookery as well.
My mother lived on a lake and enjoyed fishing. One time a young heron flew and landed at the tip of her boat. It sat at that spot waiting for my mother to catch a fish. She did and gave it to the heron. My mother rowed the boat back to her pier with the heron still sitting at the tip of the boat. For an entire week, this heron flew over to the pier and sat on my mother's boat waiting for her to feed it fish.

Thanks for sharing your great blue herons!

Thanks for watching pexelpusher2010. I am most definitely NOT a serious birder. But I love birds! My intent was to try to showcase them in a more creative way, which is more my style, even as a photographer.

What a wonderful story Betty! Lucky Mom. Must have been pretty wild to have a heron as a pet, even if it was just for a week!
