June Challenge 2008 - Transformation

Postby hardsoftware » Mon Jun 16, 2008 10:28 am

I don't know if this qualifies for the June Challenge, but it does involve only one photo, but the photo itself is not manipulated. It's the layers added to the photo that are manipulated. You may have seen it before. I posted back in April. It is updated a little bit. Hope this post is ok. If not well then too bad for me

I'm so glad you posted this one again. I've been meaning to try my hand at colorizing a photo but I keep forgetting to do it. I've got the time right now, and if I can do one-tenth as well as you've done, I'll be totally pleased with myself.

This qualifies you for the grand prize.

Outstanding, really Ben !
Much better now than when you first posted it -at least for me.
Now I could easily follow the steps and understand what was going on.
Thank you for posting again.

Thanks Cherub, yea, I did change it by adding the source photo as a background instead of that white background I used in the first post. Change the text a little bit too.

Jim, this one only took me a couple of hours to do in Elements 2.0. Check out my other colorization work in My Colorized Roots, and The Lost Hero shows.

Thanks Barbara, i am sure you will do just fine when you do decide to try this.

I just thought I mention, the photo used in this show was given to me as a low resolution JPG. This is not good because in order to colorize its gotta be changed to a TIF or something that allows layers. Converting an already low resolution JPG to those formats, as you all know, does not help were resolution is concerned. Because of this I could not zoom in to do detailed work. Just not enough resolution there. Making the photo any larger than you see it on screen causes it to breakup pretty badly.
