June Challenge - The Drinks Party

Postby trulytango » Sat May 24, 2008 11:54 am

Hi there

One picture and a few filters - no music, just a handful of sound effects.

Cheers
Iris :D

Hi Iris,
That was just too good! You really hit home with the visual and audio "effects" of drinking. Smiles. Well done! I think I'll go back and watch it again. :D

Hugs,

Iris,

That was really cool. I loved the use of the crowd in the background and the sound effects.

This makes me wonder about the deal DJ is having on their sound effects volumes 1, 2 and 3. I am frustrated that they don't really give you a better idea of all the stuff in those volumes and don't want to spend $99 for stuff I'm not going to use.

Did you use stuff from those kinds of products or get the sounds from elsewhere?

Does anyone else have any of those volumes and can clue us in on the content?

Hi there everyone,

Thanks for taking up the invitation to my little drinks party...

Glad you liked it. The show was very simple so I gave myself a bit of a headache getting the sounds in at the right level (and in the right places). Lots of minuses in the offsetting of things!

The sounds all came from the site Jerry Cole recommended a short time ago. Free/creative commons stuff:

Great job.

Before i read the replies i was going to ask if the sound effects were self made

Was going to do mine in a similar way using smaller cropped photos but it didn't have the same effect but you pulled it off nicely.

Well done.

Hi Iris,
That was absolutely fabulous. The idea, the sounds and the realization - all came together very very well.
Well done Iris !

When I watched it the 2nd time, another idea popped up. Instead of the little frames, you could have used cutouts of the persons and bring them into focus, or out of focus. Just a thought ...

Hi Cherub

Yes... that's a great idea, Mona. I'm no stranger to cutouts so why didn't I think of that!

Maybe I'll revisit it...

Stuart - I had a hard time thinking what to do with just one pic... I thought of all the different painterly effects like you, but a group of people drinking were simply begging to get blurred!

Thanks and talk to you soon
Iris :D

Iris, that was spot on! If you'd made it any longer, we all might have fallen out of chairs in sheer sympathy with the party folk.

I particularly liked the swirling effect where the people slowly dissolved into the swirl.
