Feb08 Challenge - marmart - Movie Town Madness

Postby marmart » Tue Feb 05, 2008 9:36 am

OK, I had no intention of entering this challenge. But here I am. I just began using 3.0 three weeks ago having felt much safer with 2.6 and not having any time this past year to even take time out to learn the ropes. This is my first post ever but thanks to the amazing group of people on this forum, I felt comfortable throwing myself at your mercy(:

My entry needs a little background. 3 years ago, Michael Moore had a vision for our sleepy little town, nestled between East and West Grand Traverse Bays 4 hours north of Detroit. We have a population of 15,000 during non-tourist seasons, but have a world-renowned Arts Academy 10 miles to the south and we are known as one of the most beautiful places in the US.

Founded by Academy Award winning filmmaker Michael Moore and co-founders, photographer John Robert Williams and New York Times bestselling author Doug Stanton, the festival brings films and filmmakers from around the world to northern Michigan, creating a level of excitement one local paper said was "the best thing to happen here since the Ice Age left us Lake Michigan."

The Traverse City Film Festival, has already, in its third year, become one of the biggest film festivals in the Midwest. In addition to the 70,000 admissions in summer 2006, the festival pumped millions of dollars into the local economy.

In November of 2007, the newly renovated State Theatre (which dates back to 1916) reopened with the Michigan premiere of “The Kite Runner”. Since then, we have continued to break studio records with attendance.

Needless to say, I am very proud of our Theatre and am a movie junkie, thus I chose to make my entry on the Theatre and Film Festival.

Thanks for watching!

Mary

I like it -- that is tough music to work with !! The only thing that I might
change was at the end where you have the url specified, consider changing
the url to a different color (colour for those over "there" :D ) and putting
the characters a bit closer together - hard to read spaced the way they
were. Very well put together.

Hi Mary,
Now that was a great subject to cover for this month's challenge. Nice entry! Seems to me you got a pretty good handle on Producer 3.0. You go girl!

Mary,
Nothing like hyping viewers up with the music before the show even starts.
Great shots in synch with the music!
Really like the State Theater thumbnail.
Inspired,
Sandy

Mary, if I had to pick a winner right now, today... You win - hands down.
This is the best one I've seen so far.

Well Done!

Pictures were great and your timing was great. I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation although a few times I would have liked to have lingered on a few of the pictures a little longer. However, you kept presenting the same pictures over and over and it helped to impress them in my mind better.

What I liked best about this show was your lightning-like flicker through all the pictures at the end. This is exactly an effect I had thought about trying recently as I rapidly "flicked" through some pictures in Lightroom. Thanks for showing me how effective it can be in Producer (or Gold) whichever you're using.

This was one of the best shows yet using the music given!

Brenda, Jean and Paul -wow! thanks for watching and your comments. Paul, I used PSP 3.0 and the lightening -like flicker is something I had thought about as well and had never tried, so it was fun and you are right, the pix go by fast - but I was trying to keep beat the entire time, which is why I used them again...and again...and again (you noticed that too).

I have actually come to like that music and am humming it all the time - OMG!!!
