I have a number of projects like that -- something has inspired me
to say "that would make a nice show" for some reason or another.
What I usually do when that happens, create a directory for that
show in my "projects" partition, put the sub-dirs in for video, sound, pix
etc. and then put the pictures, sound or whatever inspired it into
those appropriate directories and add a simple word doc. in the
folder as well, with my thoughts/notes in it. Add to it as you see
fit and as the inspiration happens. Pretty soon, it will either
come together if it was meant to be or you will realize it doesn't work
and you can just delete the folder structure and move on (I only
have copies of sound, pictures etc in those folders, so nothing is lost).

I also have a "test_show" folder where I try out various simple
"test shows" to try something with masking, keyframing or whatever.
These "test shows" may only consist of 4 or 5 slides but are nice to
be able to experiment with something like flipping an image etc.
Makes it nice to be able to go back and say "how did i do that again?"

Scott, Beth, twodoor, Bonnie & Ken.

Ken, I like your idea comparing making a show with climbing a mountain! Apart from the sheer pleasure, there's preparation and 'hard work' at times. I think, as with everything really, planning is the key even though we might get somewhat sidetracked from our original idea along the way! Good things don't come easy, but when there's a pleasing result our effort was well worth it!

Mikey

You sound VERY much more highly organised than me! I have a string of 'good ideas' with a few notes scribbled down in a notebook! (I might get around to them sometime!). Normally have 4 or 5 shows at a time in various stages of completion on the computer. My biggest problem is wading through dozens of photo CDs or getting out to catch new photos I need, or want to manipulate, to complete them. Of course that's talking about stuff I consider to be a bit creative - what I enjoy doing. And I do like to have a basic plan, and prefer to have chosen the music (that more often than not dictates the show) before I start anything, though sometimes a show almost seems to create itself as I go - if 'it works' great, if 'it doesn't' tuff! Really do think I ought to take a leaf out of your book though, and organise myself a bit better! Am sure it would make life a lot less stressful!!!

Well, that's a first !!! :D :D :D

I don't think anyone has EVER said I am better orgainized
than they were (but I certainly have had the reverse said !!)

You're right, sometimes, you hear something that just demands
a show -- that was the one I did just after Christmas that was
the spoof on "seasons greetings" (Seasoned Eatings). We
still laugh at that one -- talk about a "low budget" show !!

Postby bernard » Sun Aug 19, 2007 7:11 am

Hi all,

After viewing Lavinias show, Mickey commented that he kept a copy of this show. My question is..HOW DO YOU MAKE A COPY OF SHOW?

Thanks,
Bernard
