Hill End

Postby Mokummer » Tue Jul 21, 2009 8:49 pm

Hill End was in 1851 among the greatest of Australian goldfields,
275km from Sydney and 870m above sea-level.
It’s now a historic town full of surprises.

Enjoy a bit of Australian history what we did in 2008.
It takes only 8 minutes of your time.

Perfect choice and blend of images, music and timing. Hugely enjoyable. What more can be said!

Well, just one point. The intitial text scrolled a bit too fast to be read easily (and the font didn't help).

I just wish I could do as well and will use this show as a model to aim for.

Thanks for the tour of this historic town. Your photography and post processing is excellent and this helped make for a very enjoyable show.

I did not care for the font and the fact that it changed colors, and at time, locations. The initial text scrolled by too quickly to be read completely. Try reading your captions out loud, at a normal pace, to help determine the length of time to make the slide. Although I enjoyed the photography, a 9 minute show was too long for me and I lost interest at about 6 minutes.

Thanks for sharing.

I thought this was a wonderful presentation. Was so wrapped up in looking at the pictures I did not look for any particular negatives or positives. Great history presentation. Keep posting.

What a story it told! The music was just perfect for this. I loved every picture and it didnt get old for me at all. Then again, I love history and seeing how people lived and survived. The only thing I would say is to check the word "known" It say's "it was know as Gold Hill" or something like that in the beginning of the story.
Thanks for sharing that, I loved it.

Thank you all for your comments.

I made some changes to the show and corrections as mentioned by you.
Text scrolling, a lighter font, spelling mistake, duration now 7.3 minutes.

With a slide show duration it’s either to long or short, I think that we all struggle with it. But it’s good to get these comments, we all learn from it. :)

Once again’ thank you! :) :)

Here is the link to the corrected version.

That was an enjoyable, entertaining and educational show. Liked the music choice and thought the length of the show was just right!
Enjoy life! This is not a dress rehearsal!

Wonderful show and photos. Perfect timing. Great job.

I was wondering if you can share the postprocessing method you use on your photos to render the beautiful look they have?

LouLou
Thank you. :D

Alan
Thank you. :D
Go to Hill End when they have an Open Day you are than able to go inside some properties. Go to the web site for details, usually in October.
Don’t use the Bridel Track unless you have a four-wheel drive

Hello Herb.

Thank you for your comment. :D

Post processing is done in PaintshopPro X2 Ultimate.
Mostly correcting the brightness and contrast including some sharpening.

In this show I also used a plug-in filter called Topaz Adjust/Vibrance.
There is a whole range of filters to choose from once the plug-in is installed.
However you must be careful with using filters. They do not improve all scenes, it’s a personal choice.

Thanks for sharing your show with us.

Beautiful pictures, nicely flowing story, map of a town was a very good idea,
enough naration to have basic info, very good example of educational / facts fill project.

Just one thing: will it be possible to fit a map of larger area to see WHERE it is ??
Maybe at the beggining - under the "scrolling text" - whole continent , then zoom in ??

Thank you Anna J and Astra for your comments.

Anna your question:
(Will it be possible to fit a map of larger area to see WHERE it is ??)

I’m not sure if this is possible; it’s a very large area and details may get lost.
However type in Google Earth (Hill End, NSW, Australia) and explore from there.

Greetings,
Mokummer
