Touch Screen
I know this is a pipe dream, but wouldn't it be cool to be able to use just touch screen technology to create our slideshows. Zooming in and out would require simply pinching or expanding the screen. Making an image tilt just took two fingers touching the screen. I know, I know...it'll probably never happen, but I would sure love to see it.
Re: Touch Screen
I'd positively hate it, but I'm an old fuddy-duddy.

Re: Touch Screen
I seem to remember this technology being available a few years ago on a desktop machine. I'm thinking it didn't sell well and that's why I don't see it being advertised any longer.
I think it would be a royal pita on software. There are plenty of times where people have difficulty stating what they have done to get a result they don't like. I can't imagine asking someone, "how big of a pinch did you give the picture?"
A long-winded version of I'd pass on it too.

Re: Touch Screen
While it might not be the best input choice for every use, a touch screen is faster, easier and less frustrating for me than scrolling with a thumb pad on a laptop! Though I'm not using touch screen for my normal everyday computing.
According to Apple's financial reports in their press release, the 2010 sales of iPhone and iPad devices helped provide Apple with record revenue growth ever of 78% ($25.74 Billion).
I put off getting a smart phone as long as I could until a few months ago, chose a Droid and put it to good use. I can take 8MP pictures, 720p HD video, process credit card payments and keep up with email and forum posts on the run - all using touchscreen technology.
Ok so maybe it's not for everyone. But now that I've tried the touch technology I love it.

This is a touch screen computer. Not saying I want one but might be interesting to see what it's like to create a show using Producer with it.

Re: Touch Screen
Don't think I would be interested, but I have
thought that before and was wrong. But
like Kath said "how big of a pinch should
I use" , what about eye strain? If your
monitor was that close...... I don't
know, don't have to worry about it
yet... LOL

Re: Touch Screen
This was a fascinating video from 2007 even though you have to watch the travel advertisement first.

Re: Touch Screen
The guy talked at around 10,000 miles per minute but he didn't say very much. What I mean is, other than sliding images around on a screen, maybe to categorize them, I couldn't quite get my brain to come up with a way in which it would improve things. Since we haven't seen it marketed for the home user--or I haven't anyway--is it actually targeted at places like the casino mentioned? I think at one point shopping malls were mentioned, but I didn't hear how it would fit into the mall setting.

Re: Touch Screen
This conversation reminded me of an email I received last week. The mind boggles at what future generations will be able to do and how it will enable them to live.

Diane, that video reminded me of the Monsanto House of the Future at Disneyland years ago.

Re: Touch Screen
Wow, There are some exciting ideas there, but much of it would be an annoyance for me. I don't want everything talking at me. I did like the rolled up piece of "plastic" that would enable you to show someone else your ideas.
