Video Enhancements

Postby gham » Fri Oct 15, 2010 8:11 pm

Need to have faster import times - import of videos takes 10 to 20 times longer than standard Sony Vegas type editors.
Also need simple editing tools for both pictures and movies like saturation adjustment - this is basic but not available in Producer.

You realize, of course, that Sony Vegas is a Nonlinear editor . . . meant to edit video right? And Producer is NOT! It's optimized for stills and can handle video. It'll handle some video but if you have lots you're better served going to the NLE for your video needs. That said, it'd be nice if there were a few more tools to handle images (still/video) and better than basic menuing too. Don't hold your breath tho. I bet this stuff is WAY down on their must have list!...

Ahhhhhh....... but you CAN use Producers tools to adjust your videos!. You just have to know how. :D

To bump up the saturation, Try turning down the BLACK POINT slider will make the color pop. You will have to compensate a little by increasing the BRIGHTNESS (midtones) and maybe WHITE POINT too.

Colorize it, turn it into B&W or sepia with the colorize tool just as you would do to a still photo!
Use the clip over itself as adjustment mask.
Apply a slide "style", that also works.

This video clip utilizes a very short, low quality, low res Animoto video clip. I don't have a better quality one to use in the sample but you get the idea of the potential of the Producer tools.

"Video Adjustments" 1 min.
