Postby debngar » Fri Dec 12, 2008 6:45 pm

Jan was asking about this. Here are some samples found on some other websites.

There are still images on this website taken with the new 5D but also at the bottom of the page is a video review of the performance of this camera.

B&H photography has advertised in their catalog the HASSELBLAD H3DII-50 (50 Mega Pixel digital camera) for only $39,995.00. Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note: The 21.1MP EOS 5DD Mark II ($2,700 body only; $3,500 with 24-105mm F/4L EF IS USM lens) packs the same number of pixels as Canon's $7,500 flagship 1Ds Mark III, 14 bit color when shooting RAW, ISOs up to 25,600, and 1920x1080 video capture.

Nice camera...............

Canon 5D Mark II video files

Postby wcapald » Tue Dec 16, 2008 12:56 pm

I have one - camera images are superb, noise, wot noise, non-existent up to 6400......BUT the video side is going to be a challenge I think trying to incorporate the QT movies into ProShow. They are 1080p 30fps .mov files and of course they are massive.... I've posted a new topic on workflow to get this going in Having Trouble section in ProShow Producer. thx wayne 8)

Yes, still loving my 5DMark II. (This is different than the 5D). My old camera is the older 30D. The lenses will be your most important purchase though. Buy a cheap lens and your pictures may not be as sharp as you wish.

This is a short show that I shot exclusively with the 5D II. Lenses used included the 16-35 F2.8 USM L, 24-105 IS F4 L, 70-200 F2.8 IS USM L, 85 II mm F 1.2 USM L , 300 F2.8 IS USM L. and 400 IS USM F4 L. The only shots taken from a tripod were the 300 and 400 mm shots (street and metro compression shots). Iso ranges from 100 to 640. I didn't use mirror lock up on any of the photographs.

I also own the 1DS III but haven't used it yet.

Nicely done Don!
Well Deb and Don, I joked about winning the lottery and I sort of did. My hubby is getting a small inheritance and finally had to blab his secret. I was hell bent that I was getting a Nikon D90 as I couldn't justify the "dream camera" price. A fabulous forum member had one for sale and I was going for it. He tried to tell my sister that she had to stop me from buying it as he wanted to buy me the "dream camera" for our anniversary. Needless to say my sister laughed and said "You better tell her now, I can't hold her off!" So if he doesn't change his mind I should own this puppy within the next six months and I am so excited I can hardly stand myself! What we are going to purchase is:

Canon EOS 5D Mark11 - with 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens
Canon EF-S 55-250mm F/4-5.6 IS lens
and a wireless flash component , not sure what yet...various studio gear as we have a suite downstairs we will be turning into a studio sometime in the spring.

I value your opinions and advice, so any information will be taken seriously!! Have a great weekend!! Cheers Jan

ps - hence why I am going to school.....

Hi Jan!

The EF S lens will not work on the 5DMII. You can use the EF lens on all the Canon camera's but the EF S lens will not work with full frame cameras. With the lens kit camera..it's a great one, I would add a 50 or 85 1.2 for great low light. You really need a fast lens.

Hope this helps a little.
