Nikon Lens
We are going over to the Baltic next month. I have a Nikon D7000 with a 18 - 300 mm lens. My question is: Would I do better with a 10 - 24 mm lens for buildings, inside and out as well as people? I am a "getting better" photographer so knowledge of lens is limited! I do not have a wide angle lens.
Thanks in advance everyone,
Rosemary

Re: Nikon Lens
I'm not a Nikon owner but as I understand it, the D7000 is about a 1.5 crop sensor camera. This means a 10-24mm on that camera has approximately the reach of a 16-35mm lens does on a full frame camera. That said, I would use the wide angle lens for landscapes and buildings, yes. The other lens is a better choice for photographing people as there should be less undesirable distortion used at 35mm and up on the crop camera. Take both.

Hi Rosemary.
debngar is right with her advise.
I have been using a 18-250 zoom lens on my Nikon D80 with great success also for buildings.
When I'm out and about I only use the zoom for convenience.
When you are travelling changing lenses is not ideal in regard to dust on your sensor.
Make sure that your sensor is clean before you go.
Have a good trip and make plenty of nice pictures; what you've got is a fantastic camera.

Re: Nikon Lens
Thank you, Bill,
I like the camera too. I have had it for 7 months now and it still has a lot of options that I have not explored. I like the zoom for birds etc.
We are looking forward to our trip, especially to St. Petersburg where there are lots of buildings etc to take pictures of, I believe.

Re: Nikon Lens
Bill, that was beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Clearly I have a ways to go to achieve that level of photography but I will keep trying!
