Re: Generic or not to Generic??
The camera warnings are a good thing to know about some of the newer devices. Deb will not have this problem with the Canon 300D. Trust me. Too many people using generics over the last 7 years, myself included, and I have heard of no problems yet. Rest easy.

DC voltage is DC voltage, right? Apparently there's some kind of chip in that battery. That's pretty low-life of Panasonic to do that if you ask me. Someone will eventually come up with a "fix".

Hi everyone!!!
My generic batteries arrived today and they work better than the originals!!! I ended up getting 2 for $45 instead of 1 for $90
Thanks for all the advice and comments - I have learnt a lot!!
Take care

Deb,
Congratulations. I think others will learn from your question. I would recommend one additional thing. I tend to put a piece of masking tape on each battery and number them. Then I can make sure that I occassionally rotate them and also, if there is a problem (e.g. short run time), I can easily identify the culprit.
