Hello Mikey,

They used to sell heaters to keep engine oil warm for cars parked outside in winter time. Ofcourse it was in 60's. I am not sure what kind is available now. You can check automotive section or may be pet supplies on the internet and improvise with your ingenuity.

I know you can buy floating low heat thingies to keep a thawed hole in the surface of a fish pond. Perhaps you could add wings to it?

Actually, my idea had been a 12v powered heater controlled by a PIC microprocessor that reported back the current temperature (hey, Rube Goldberg was my hero what can I say ??
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Goldberg ). Similar to the controller I built for my hot tub some years ago ... hmm, maybe just adapt the code for that since I already have the board layout and design done :D
Time to etch a couple of circuit boards !! (never send a normal person to do a task like this when you have an engineer handy !! )

You can't have too many gadgets or too much disk space !!

Lots of PIC and Arduino microprocessor stuff too !!
