Sony Camcorder file convertion.
Hi everyone,
I have a Sony HDR-CX7 camcorder and I don't know how to convert the video files (.AVCHD) and the stills which are .MODD into a format recognized by Producer. Does anyone have the solution?

I have an HDR-SR12.....so when I get around to doing some conversions I'll try to remember to post it here.
In the meantime, my Sony came with a copy of Picture Motion Browser. (PMB) (How's that for one of the most stoopid names for a video viewer/organizer ever?). If you right click on a video clip, it will let you save it in mpg2 or wmv format, which should be readable by ProShow.

Re: Sony Camcorder file convertion.
Andrzej,
Thank you so much. Looks easy when you know how. I am going to give it a try asap. "He Who Must Be Obeyed" and I are so ignorant about camcorders! We did not know what to do after downloading to get the files converted so as Producer would recognize them therefore it has been sitting on the shelf since Christmas.

Glad Andrzej was able to point you in the right direction Rosemary. All my past experience was with DV format stuff which is easy to work with, but not the newer camcorders yet.

You can't have too many gadgets or too much disk space !!
mikey (PSP6, Photoshop CS6, Vegas Pro 14, Acid 7, BluffTitler, Nikon D300s, D810)
Lots of PIC and Arduino microprocessor stuff too !!

Wonderful news. I'm glad that I was able to point you in the right direction so you could fix your issue so quickly.
Where should I send the invoice?

Try Parliment Hill via Texas to Vancouver! Husband is suitably pleased too that the problem is solved - one more thing out of his "Honey do Jar"!
Thanks,
Rosemary

LOL! Why via Texas....last I checked you can mail stuff from Ontario to Vancouver and it might even get there eventually.
I can relate to the "Honey Do" list...mine keeps expanding faster than I can cross items off for some reason.
