Converting 3.x Templates into 4.0 Slide Styles

Postby VidQueen » Wed Dec 10, 2008 12:22 pm

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Here is my first tutorial from Producer 4.0. I've had a few questions about whether previous versions of Templates will work smoothly in 4.0. The answer is a resounding YES! Full show templates remain the same. Single slide templates now become Slide Styles....and Slide Styles are AWSOME!!!

The tutorial is about 8 minutes long, 146Mb. Please give it a few mintues to load, once it does it seems to play pretty smoothly.

Enjoy!

Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer!!!!! How great that you are giving us a tutorial already. I watched your show earlier today along with the Pdex one and decided to upgrade! I was still a 3.1 user as I never thought 3.5 was worth it, but I love some of the new features of 4.0. - can't wait to play(:

So anyway, thanks to you for being our little mouse in the pocket and for all the great things you do.

Merry Christmas,

Peace,

Mary

Thank you Jennifer! Great tutorial, as usual.

As I can't install ver. 4 yet (hardware problems), could you please tell me: Is it possible to preserve certain images in the style of a slide, while leaving others empty (to be replaced by the normal pictures)?
I mean, the way we do in templates, by choosing certain images to stay with the template.
You only mentioned the background in your tutorial, and I only noticed this button.
Can we do this with the new styles?

Yep! You couldn't see it because it is in the Layers Tab, which I didn't show in my Tutorial. Same checkbox; Replacable Image for Templates or Styles:)

Hi Jennifer,
I just wanted to jump in to say "Great Tutorial" as usual. Tinkered with the trial version this evening and love it! Can't wait to upgrade after the holidays. By then I should have the few projects I'm working on completed. Happy Holidays!

Hugs,
Stephanie

Hi Guys....

Just a quick update...I've posted a Part 2 tutorial explaining how to keep your layers in tact when creating Slide Styles:

Thank you Jennifer for answering my question with this new tutorial. Much obliged to you.

BTW, I think that "intact" is a one word adjective. :D

Yes, of course!

I noticed that when talking about having to leave a picture in place, in order to preserve the holders, you said "in this version of Producer 4.0".
Does this mean that maybe, just maybe, in a future release this might be corrected?

I honestly have no idea. It depends on whether they consider this to be a bug or an intentional feature. I can't imagine why it would be intentional, so I'm hoping it will be corrected in a future update, but again...I really have no idea!
