How to create a reflection of a photo using only Producer

Postby czali » Tue Jan 08, 2008 1:31 pm

Thought I would post this here. The orginal thread and show can be found here http://www.proshowenthusiasts.com/viewtopic.php?t=6147.

Ok, I hope this makes sense. Let me know.

To give the background the three dimensional look:

Create a Gradient Layer

Preset: Mask
Type: Linear
With your colors going from black to white (this can be changed to your liking)

Chose the first box to the right

Take this layer and apply a transparent vignette and place this layer at position

0, -45 and zoom to 125%

Create a second Gradient Layer with the dame preset and type but have your colors
white to black

Also apply a transparent vignette and place this layer at position

0, 70 and zoom to 125%
Now you are ready to apply your first photo

Place your photo where you would like (mine is at (0, -5))

Duplicate your photo and flip vertically under editing tools

For me the reflection photo is placed at (0, 44)

Now you need to make your mask that gives a subtle effect to the reflection.

Create another mask with the same presets as previous but click and drag your mouse from top to bottom in preview to get the right look. You want your colors to be white to black on this one as well.

This is your mask that you apply to your reflection layer. This should be a grayscale mask for a very subtle effect.

The great thing about this is you can apply your motions and then duplicate your layers. After you select file and change your photos, you just need to move your key frames to get the carousel effect.

I love this whole program you creatively created. How did you do the daisy where the color changes from white to yellow-so cool. Thanks for your expertise.

Wow Colleen! Thank you for posting this again as I missed it earlier.

This short show has some of the most amazing effects I have seen posted.

I am just now really trying to learn 3.0 and your effects are definately on the top of my list to try to emulate.

Keep the ideas coming :)

Very well done Colleen -- on my list of "to study" for future reference.
Those various masks you used really added to the show.

Hello Colleen,

The reflection is great but I've been unable to create the effect. I was wondering if you could provide a template or a sample to further study.

This is so odd. I never got any of these replies emailed to me. You probably thought I was ignoring you all. I will try to get a template for this effect and post it. I have never sent one so we will see.

Hello Colleen,
I missed fun with masks somehow. I'm glad you posted it again with all the information. This is very much appreciated, thank you.

Good work,
Douglas

Colleen, I officially hate ya  For showing me just how much I've gotta learn about this damned programme. :D Thanks so much for sharing your know-how. I'd be stuck on the basics if it wasn't for you and many other forum members.

Colleen,

I wanted to view your show on reflection but I can't get it to work. When I clicked on the link, it would come up saying Playback Complete and won't play the show. Has the show been deleted?
