Falling snow has probably been discussed at length in the past, so I'm sorry if I'm going over old ground here. However it's a question I've been asked by more then one person, and to be honest I had fun making the effect.
Here's the link to my Youtube tutorial:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oonJoHZ2nTUTo see the effect in higher quality I made this ver small (2.5mb / 1 minute) show:

Hi Gavin,
An excellent tutorial, as usual. Thank you very much.
I like free plugins that do a good job, and that are suitable for all the graphic programs, and not just for Photoshop.
Thanks !

Well done Gavin. Good tutorial. We are well into spring here in Australia and it actually snowed an hour west of Sydney yesterday. Crazy!

I am using GIMP 2.6.6 but, I cannot seem to get the filter to install there.
I went to Vanderlee website and they say the snowflakes filter is partially compatable with GIMP but, they show and older version. They reference doing a deep scan, but, the method they say to use does not seem to work. I have e-mailed them a request for info, so I am waiting for that.
Has anyone here tried to use any of the Vanderlee plugins on GIMP? If so, how do I install them?
Thanks,
Glen
