Converting a File for Burning

Hello,

I have a customer who has created a very detailed show in PowerPoint. Actually very impressive. She has asked me to see if I can burn it to DVD so it can be viewed on TV.

It can be watched in PP Viewer-on the PC, but I am unable to find an application I can dump this PP show into to burn it to DVD for her. I have tried Sonic Record Now, Windows Media Player, Windows Movie Maker, Microsoft Plus Story Maker with no luck!

Any suggestions?

This isn't the answer you want to hear, but this question comes up quite often
in the video editing groups. Last I heard, there were a couple of utilities ($$)
that could do it, but there was no simple way to get there. That may have
changed, but I have not heard about it recently.

To put in my cents.

Why not play a laptop output to a DVD recorder? Assuming you have the equipment:

With a S-Video out conector ( common on most laptops ), set output to "TV".
"Play" Powerpoint presentation while recording on DVD recorder.

If the Recorder accepted DV/Firewire, the quality would be better.

I think this will be a no-cost solution for you:

CamStudio is a free open-source screen capture software. It produces high-quality screen captures that you can save as avi files. You can read about CamStudio and download the program from the following link:

I'm simplifying the steps, but just run the PowerPoint while capturing the full-screen playback with CamStudio (the file will be huge, so make sure you have plenty of hard drive space), saving the results as an avi file. Bring this new avi file into Producer as a new show & then burn to a DVD as normal. Very simple process...

You should also be able to save the presentation as jpgs and then recreate the show in ProShow using those jpgs. Animations may get to be a bit challenging, however. This link will provide some additional detail.
