Training through Online Tutorials

Not that most of you guys need it but I thought I would share a site that I found when I ran into "Pantone" this weekend. Can you tell I am a newbie to this world of printing press's? My sister was having a banner made for when she goes to trade shows and the seller told her to ask the designer who did her business cards what her Pantone # was. To which I of course replied "HUH". My brother told me that if I was going to pass myself off as a graphic designer I better get on it and figure that one out. Boy did I learn a ton of stuff this weekend. Anyway, here is the site. I thought the price was reasonable and I can "CamstudioPro" the ones I want to see again for reference.

It has one tutorial specifically all about Prepress and I learned huge amounts. Specifically why business cards don't come out the exact color I thought they were when I send them to a printer. It was awesome!

Cheers Jan

Hi gang,
I like using the Hayes Island Effect, in my real estate shows. It is a photoshop procedure that creates a story book style drawing from your photos. The tutorial costs three or four bucks, and is downloadable. Check it out at http://www.davrodigital.co.uk/tutorials ... island.htm I really like using it as a transition from story book, to real life. I also recommend Smartflix for anyone looking to rent first class tutorials. www.smartflix.com.

BTW
Davrodigital also has a very nice tutorial for those learning Proshow Gold.

I recently bought one of the Adobe CS3 packages and Lynda.com was offered as a one month freebie. Well after wathching just a few titles, I was hooked. There are a lot of very good, brand new tutorials on Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, you name it. Jan is so right. Check out Lynda.com.

Hi Billy

Thanks so much for sharing with us the davrodigital website. There's great stuff there and I thought the pricing was good too. I love the Hayes Island Effect and know it could be an nice effect in shows. I also found the smartflix site interesting, I'll spend some time browsing that one sometime :)
